Who is Murphy?

First, Murphy's law is a saying that means: "Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong!" As an PM and Leader of Project Execution Teams, I can assure you that Murphy was an Optimist 🤔

Our recommendation to you is, ensure that you spend enough time working on your Risk Assessment. This is the place where you and your colleagues can brain storm and identify issues before they will happen. Based on the Risk Assessment, you be in good shape to take preventive action.

What is Parkinson's law?

Parkinson's lay claims that work expands to fill the time allotted for its completion.

Based on our expericene, this syndrome is real and goes along with the Student syndrome. Both together will have effect on your project - especially on quality of work.

What is the Student syndrome?

Is a phenomenon where people delay doing things until right before the deadline.

What is a HOM / KOM?

The HOM is the Hand Over Meeting where Sales hands over the sold project to the execution team. The HOM is always organized and led by Sales.

The KOM is the internal Project Kick Off Meeting. This meeting is the internal GO. We have a design freeze and can start the engineering process. Please refer to the Lifecycle process to better understand at which stage the KOM is organized.

What is a Risk Assessment?

The Risk Assessment is a very important tool that every PM MUST use! It defines possible risks/events/challenges/issues/roadblocks/etc... and lets the PMM and the organization prepare countermeasures before the problem occures.

Naturally even if you do a risk assessment, there will be problem occurring that have not been identified. However, most of the time, the larger problems that will significantly impact cost and time schedule have good chance to be pre-identified. Here as well, please refer to the section where we go through the Risk Assessment!
